Well, Well

Hello long lost blog friends. Are any of you still speaking to me? I have a whole list of excuses, but they're just excuses. I got out of the habit of blogging and that's really all there is to it. The good news is that while I've been gone I've been knitting and sewing, not spinning, but I've been feeling the itch of that lately too.

Rogue has been taking up the bulk of my knitting time and I'm pleased with the progress I'm making on it. I'm on the hood and I'm still enamored with it. However, there are still sleeves to be knit, so who knows how I'll feel about it about 1/2 way into the second sleeve. Time will tell I suppose.

Rogue

I finished the muslin for the dress and I didn't like it. My chest is too large for that particular style of dress, at least that was my take on it at the time. So, I'm looking for a pattern that will work with the gorgeous black and white knit fabric I have. This is one that I found that I'm considering. The style I would make is the long sleeve v-neck with the rushed waist (or at least that's what it looks like to me from the little drawing). What do you think?

Since I can't decide on a dress, I've moved on to a pair of pants (a Hot Patterns pattern that is no longer available). I'm still in the muslin stage, but so far they're looking promising. I'm going to have to add a bit to the thighs and maybe take in the waist a smidge (I'll know more after the waistband is on). I was hoping to have them done before my trip to Philadelphia next weekend, but it isn't looking good. Oh well, I suppose I have other pants I can take.

Now, as for life ... well that's been interesting. I quit my job - again. This is becoming a nasty habit of mine, I know. Sigh. Criminal prosecution really wasn't for me. I didn't find it very intellectually stimulating. I learned that I prefer appellate work to trial work - which I suppose is good to know. I also found that working in an office with a group of insecure bitchy women is not a place I want to work. Wow, that is not a good time and not something that makes you want to get out of bed in the morning. So, for now I'm working at the yarn store once in awhile, teaching a few knitting classes, trying to finish some contract work I agreed to do, and looking for a job. I am finding that looking for a job is an interesting exercise. But, we'll see what time and patience has to offer. The one thing I'm pretty sure about is that private practice isn't for me, so I'm not sure where that leaves me.

Anyway, I have been meaning to post for oh about 3 weeks and have come up with one reason after another not to. I finally just got tired of myself and missed you guys too much to stay away any longer. I am as behind on my blog reading as I am on my own posting, so at this point I think the only option is to mark everything as read and start over from here. I'm very sorry for all that I have missed. I promise to try to be a better blog friend in the future. Have a great weekend.

Yay! Finally! And how DID you get that cool picture of Rogue? As for the other stuff...you are a smart cooky and will figure it out!! (You didn't miss much on my blog....I've sort of been "taking a break" and haven't done much spinning, either. I did make a sweater from my hand spun yarn, though!)

Hey, it's good to hear from you! I'm sorry the prosecutor's job didn't work out. From what I've heard, the work is so mundane that your coworkers totally make or break the job. I've got an interesting job-thing in the works too, but I'm trying not to jinx it this time around.

Hey sweetie - it's good to hear from you. I think that v-neck dress would be an excellent style on you, great choice. And Rogue is looking fine. I'm glad you quite that job, it sure wasn't a good place for you to be. Enjoy this time of self exploration.

It is nice to read your posts again, Rogue is looking good. Best of luck with the job hunt.

Thank you so much for that Hot Patterns link! I'd never heard of them before and had been looking for some more stylish, fashion forward (and non-empire) patterns. Can't wait to see how yours turn out!

Welcome back! Your Rogue looks great. It's hard for me to tell on the dress. I think that kind of waist would make me look fat, but it depends on your body type. Try it out and see!

Yea, where've you been? Only kidding, missed reading your posts! Rogue is looking good, nice colour too.

Good luck with the job hunt. No point wasting your days away doing something you don't enjoy. Life's too short, I think, to do that!

I really like the yarn you used on your Rogue. It looks really nice. I am at about the same spot on the Rogue I am knitting for my daughter.

I'd been wondering where you'd got to.

I've been missing the baking posts. Are you making any bread soon? :)

You know we'll welcome you back regardless of the length of your absence! The dress you're considering is my favorite of the bunch, and I think it will be very flattering!

wow, changes afoot for you! glad to hear that you decided to quit since you didn't like the job. no one should ever have to put up with a job that they hate (at least ideally.)

Sounds like you have a lot going on!!! Rogue looks great - love the tweediness. Good luck on the job hunt. At least you are weeding out things that you don't like!

Rogue looks good - what a great photo!

Nice progress on Rogue. I did the sleeves first (at the same time) and I'm at a period of inertia which I won't be able to overcome until I find my smaller needles to cast on for the body.

Good luck with the job search!

Nice to have you back! Sounds like you've had a lot going on. Rogue looks very nice.

I'm at a new blog address now, I've switched over to tpypepad.

Good to see you back! Love Rogue!

Posted by: diana at October 2, 2007 8:13 PM

ohhh...I love your Rogue. What yarn & color are you using?

Posted by: Eilene at October 3, 2007 3:30 PM

Glad you're back. Love the sweater and you're not the only one who hasn't made it because I haven't. As for the dress, It sounds like you need to make a full bust adjustment (fba). Most sewing patterns are made for a b cup. If you wear something other than a b cup bra then the fba is needed.
