Fairy Cakes
I know, I missed Eye Candy Friday. But I have a good excuse. I went to lunch and went shopping. I was pretty good - didn't buy much (I did hit the sale at Gap Body, but what are you going to do). In knitting news, I started a new sock. I have projects that still need to be finished, but a girl has to have a sock on the needles. It's one of those knitting rules. I'm sure it's written down somewhere. Anyway, I have finally started a Jaywalker. I know, I'm probably the last knitter in blogland who hasn't knit these socks, but what can I say. I was waiting for the right yarn and the right time.

I decided on a picot hem and magic loop. The yarn is Cosmopolitan from Yarntini (purchased at Pure Knits) and I'm quite pleased with how it's striping. We'll see how it goes from here.
The other thing I did this weekend was play with my new cookbook - How To Be A Domestic Goddess. I love this cookbook! Saturday night I made Fairy Cakes (aka cupcakes)

I also made some banana bread. I wanted to try the recipe because it's a bit different from my usual, and I like it. It's very moist and I like the golden raisins in it. Anyway, this is a great cookbook and I'm trying to decide what I want to make next.

great new socks! the colors are perfect for jaywalkers! I subscribe to 'sock always on the needles' also - it keeps the universe in line....

You aren't quite the last one - I haven't made any Jaywalkers yet. I love the Yarntini colors. But geez don't you have to be quick to buy it. It goes so fast!

I love your fairy cakes! There is so much blog baking going on lately that I start craving sweets. Your knitting is beautiful too - Jaywalkers are fun socks to knit.

Mmm. Cupcakes.

The Jaywalker looks gorgeous, and the fairy cakes look great, too. Were they tasty? That's my favorite baking book, but I haven't tried them yet. I'm not a big chocolate eater, but the Molten Chocolate Lava cakes (I don't remember the exact name, but they're pictured in the Chocolate chapter) are to die for, and the Coca-cola chocolate cake was requested repeatedly by a friend of mine who fixed my car regularly in exchange for chocolate cake.

The fairy cakes look yummy! What are those green sprinkles on top (we don't have too many fancy sprinkle toppings here in Germany)?
And you're not the last knitter to make Jaywalkers... I haven't knitted them so far!

Mmmm, those cupcakes look delicious...
It's quite unfair of you to tempt me with them ;)

you're right, socks on the needles are a necessity. the cupcakes look soo tasty!

Those of us watching carbs and sugar say PFFTHBBT! to the Fairy Cakes, thank you very much. Can you see the drool on the screen? And, no, you are not the last person to knit those socks. I am. And I don't have a single pair of socks on the needles at the moment (that will change so I have something to do on the plane) but I do have two scarf/stole type things. Sorry I sound grouchy...computer problems!

We'll be in a race to see who can officially be the last person to knit a pair of Jaywalkers. I've completed one sock and have the other on the needles. They've been there for almost a year. I love, love love them. I didn't go all fancy with the picot but they are super cute all the same.
Love the cupcakes! I need to make something for my Mr. Patrick for his holiday. :)

Ooooh, what kind of frosting is that?

Yummy looking cupcakes! I love the book too. I don't know if you've ever checked out this blog, but it's all about cupcakes. The addy is: http://cupcakeblog.com/index.php You should definitely check it out. And trust me, you aren't the last person out in blog land to make Jaywalkers. I haven't either, though I will one day! :) The yarn is very pretty, the colors go great together!

I agree. You always need to have socks on the needles. You're not the last person to have tried the Jaywalker pattern b/c I haven't done them either! Yours are looking great.

Oh, those cup cakes! Great, now I crave some... Being pregnant can be a challenge! No, but seriously: I have to confess I have no socks on the needles at the present time. For the first time in ages, to be exact! And I have never knitted a pair of Jaywalker's either, so no worry, I am planning on it eventually. The yarn you choose is gorgeous!

georgeous yarn, pretty food.
You're making me jealous!

Yummy cupcakes! Your jaywalkers look great. Love the yarn

LOVELY striping on those Jaywalkers! They are my favorite sock pattern, I do believe I could knit a pair in my sleep!
That is the only Nigella book I am not currently in possesion of, but that banana bread recipe sounds awesome...any excuse to eat golden raisins!

yumm cupcakes.. growling tummy here :-)
Those jaywalkers are sweet! Be sure to try them on part way through - my first pair was a tad bit too tight. Very pretty tho!

That yarn is fabulous! What great colors :) (And also, those cupcakes? They're making my mouth water... yum....)

The sock color is amazing and a perfect match for the jaywalker.
I've been eyeing that book. It sounds like you like it too. I made cupcakes this paste weekend - I'm loving cupcakes lately :) Yours are very March appropriate.

Both the socks and the cakes look yummy! I love baking!

Love the sock yarn. Fun, fun stripes. But I really really shouldn't be doing too much more internet shopping . . .

Wow, your jaywalkers are looking so good. I am working on some and my middle stitches (same as in your photo placement) are coming out so different, did you do a different stitch, if so, I am curious and would love to know what you did. I had to make mine three times to fit my size 8-9 foot. I ended up on size 2 needles and casting on for the larger size. My socks have virtually no give....did I do something wrong? http://larkspur-studio.blogspot.com/search/label/Grumperina%27s%20Jaywalkers
