Coopworth

The never-ending blue coopworth is finally done. I had hoped to ply it during the week, but I didn't get to it until Friday night and it took me a couple of hours on Saturday to finish it up.

While I didn't enjoy spinning this fiber, I am quite pleased with the overall result. It is fairly even and I'd say about sport weight.

I tried to spin this fiber woolen, which creates some challenges, but overall plying it went better than I could have expected. The finished yarn is scratchy, so I'm not sure what it will become, but it's in the stash closet and the right project will come to me one day. The Friday Night Spinners is really working for me. Even if I don't spin at all during the week, I make time to spin on Friday nights and I'm actually making progress on my spinning. I told you before that I have some camel colored alpaca (and a little bit of dark brown - yum), but I also have some Blue Moon Fiber Arts Sheep To Shoe that I won from Wendy. Which one do you guys think I should spin next?

Your yarn is gorgeous! It looks so even and neat. I am very impressed! As for the next yarn to spin, I'm curious what the BMFA looks like, although the alpaca would be lovely too.

Your yarn is lovely, Steph! It's spun so evenly.

That is really impressive spinning, Steph! Look how far you've come in, what?, under two years!

Your yarn is beautiful! I'd say go with the alpaca next. It'll be a nice, super soft contrast to the "scratchy" (but lovely) yarn you just finished.

Is that the coopworth from Stefania? I can't remember. I'm spinning the indigo dyed fiber I bought from her when we were in Estes and I'm not loving it.

Pretty color!

Beautiful yarn. Silly me, I thought Coopworth was supposed to be very soft. Or is it one of those "easy-to-spin" ones, a term that so often means "rough"?

Either one you choose will be a completely different experience than the coopworth. Your spinning looks so nice and even. You can always mix it with another fiber to make it softer and perhaps make a warm hat.

It is just lovely!

Hi, I have just learnt the spinning and attend a one-time off class. I enjoy the spinning and how that can knit my spun yarn in future. May I know what the spinning wheel u are using ?

The plies on this yarn are beautiful! The dark brown alpaca sounds so luxurious-but the Blue Moon sounds tempting too! :)

My vote is for the alpaca - no question!

I'm really looking forward to this Friday night msyelf. The last couple fo weeks I haven't gotten to spin, but this Friday I'm making the time. I need to. It's been to insane, and next Friday is Nick's next surgery on his leg, so there's no way I'll get to spin that night most likely.

The coopworth looks fantastic though, I bet it'll make a beautiful piece of knit cloth when it's knit up.

that came out great - even if you don't end up using it right away, it was great practice. It looks so even!

I'd go for the camel colored alpaca....mmmm....
