Enter At Your Own Risk
I'm in a really crappy mood today. I don't know why. I've thought about it and damned if I can figure out what has me all pissed off. It isn't even Monday, so I can't even blame something as arbitrary as the day of the week. Go figure. So, given my present frame of mind I seriously considered sparing you all from my crabbiness, but since you're reading this I'm sure you can figure out that I've decided to be selfish and post in the hopes that just writing something will make me feel a bit better.
I have had a pretty quiet week so far. I'm about 1/2 inch from the heel on the first knee high sock, but right now it looks just like it did the other day, only longer. Not so exciting to photograph, but pretty exciting to knit on. I've been working on the wedding square at lunch, but the last time I worked on it we had a bit of a falling out, so she's been in a time out. We'll see if she's decided to change her behavior when I pick her up today.
I didn't have any trick-or-treaters last night - that's common, but I usually buy a couple of bags of candy just to be on the safe side. There are a few kids that live in my "neighborhood," but I think they usually go to town to trick-or-treat - more bang for their buck that way. So, the good news with that is that I didn't spend all night jumping up and down to get the door. The bad news is that I have 3 bags of candy in my house. Well, it's actually only about 2 1/2 now - Travis ate half a bag of kit kats when he got home last night, plus the ones he ate for breakfast. Maybe he'll finish off the peanut butter cups tonight. Speaking of kit kats, I'm eating one right now. Surely chocolate will improve my mood. It's the miracle cure, isn't it?
I forgot to tell you the other day that I spray painted a chair in my craft room red. It matches the red in the shades and on the lampshade, but now it needs a nice cushion to make it more comfortable for those sewing sessions. I guess I'm going to have to get the sewing machine out soon because the sewing projects are piling up. I've also been thinking about making some cute pajama pants from Amy Butler for a couple of people for Christmas. I told myself I wasn't going to knit anything for Christmas, but sewing doesn't count in that ban. So, I'm trying to decide if I actually want to sew the pants for Christmas. I'm not doing anything until I'm sure I want to. Oh, but speaking of not knitting anything for Christmas, did you see the hat Jared posted about? Damn that guy. He always posts these projects and then I just really want to knit them. Travis has misplaced his favorite hat (he's sure I did something with it, and I'm equally sure it's his fault), and I think that pattern (pdf - page 3) would be perfect for Travis. So, I may be knitting one small project for Christmas. Maybe.
The only other topic I have is the new Interweave Knits. I got my copy Monday and I've looked through it three or four times. My favorite pattern by far is Eunny's fair isle pullover. I think I'll add that to my list of projects to knit (not until I finish Butterfly though). The only other one that was mildly interesting to me is the Equestrian Blazer. Oh, wait that's not true. I also like the Nantucket Jacket from Norah Gaughan, but realistically, I'll never knit it. I don't know why really, but I just know I won't.
Tonight I plan to sit on the couch and watch Lost and CSI: NY and knit the heel on my sock. Hopefully that will produce a photo or two for you tomorrow because I know todays post is whiny and boring. Don't give up on me - hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're in a bad mood...knitting and watching TV tonight sound like they might help. Maybe adding a cup of hot chocolate would be good too, just to keep up the chocolate intake. =) I was in a foul mood Monday night, so yesterday I gave up on the things I was "supposed" to be doing and knitted and read instead. It was great.

Have another Kit Kat and do some knitting - your mood is sure to lift! Funny how sometimes absolutely nothing can make our mood sour - maybe it's barometric pressure or something!
The PJ pants should be a relatively quick sew, so knocking out a couple pairs shouldn't be too bad - you could cut all the parts and just assembly line it!
The Shedir has been on my to knit list for a while - the stupid list grows way faster than I can knit!

Crabby is OK. I'd be happy to come over and have a crabby bitch session with you as I'm in the same boat today.

Hope the mood is lifting. My day has been crap so far!

Hope you use up your 'bad day' today. I figure if I have one then I'm sure to have a whole slew of good days next!

I'll take some peanut butter cups and kit kats off your hands! You want to meet me in NY on Friday, that will surely make you feel better! =)

I'd never give up on you, I completely understand those bad moods can't pinpoint why days. I only hope your bad day turns brighter.
Wise idea not knitting anything for Christmas, well except for Travis, because really anything for him doesn't count. But the sewing sounds like a good idea, still hand-crafted but much quicker typically.
I haven't gotten my INterweave yet, but then your a lot closer to the mailing off point, maybe I'll get mine by the end of the week. I saw Euny's pattern on their website though, it's great! Definitely a possible knit for me in the future.

Sometimes I wonder if blogging is good for me, this post has just made me long for so much more than I have. Now I want to make pyjama pants so I suppose I'll have to buy that book and I am completely regretting cancelling my Interweave subscription, there are at least 4 things there that I want and as for those knee socks, so lovely. Off to find my credit card....

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling crappy! Hopefully all these sweet comments will cheer you up. It's funny that you commented about the hat posted on brooklyn tweed - I immediately printed out the pattern to make for my husband, too! It just looks so cool, plus it's an excuse to play with cables that looks really manly. I haven't gotten my IK yet either, but I've been looking at the preview on the webpage and I think there's a cardi in there that looks pretty cute. I've been on the hunt for one, though, since I think I'm going to rip out my Cutaway. Anyway, cheer up - you've got candy!

Didn't that hat rock? The second I saw it, I knew I wanted to knit it. But, of course, it's now in a long queque of things that I want to knit. Hope you spirits improve. I enjoy reading your blog and check it almost daily since I found it.

(((((hugs))))))
Crabby is an acceptable mood, and it makes you appreciate cheeriness when you feel it.
I'll be thinking of you as I sit on my ass and watch the same TV shows as you..........and, I'll also be knitting.

if you hadn't said that you were crabby i would never have noticed from your post :) but everyone's allowed to have crappy days. have some more chocolate.
damn that jared! i totally want to make that hat too! i've been pondering over what's in the stash and i think that i've come up with a game plan. now, i just need to find the time to knit it.

A bad mood happens from time to time. You're allowed. And since I read every word you must be somewhat entertaining;-) I'll be with you on the couch tonight. I've got socks to keep me happy.

you know what will put you in a better mood?
baking!
baking for me in fact!

If it helps, I'm in a crappy mood too. The only difference is that I KNOW why I'm in a crappy mood. Comfort food will help. It usually does.

I had a bad day today too, and it actually made me feel a little bit better to know that someone else was in the same boat and freely admitting it. Thanks :)

Please tell me the chocolate worked because I'm sure that is a cure-all. Bad days happen and friends won't give up on you if you are crabby. Looks like it was just one of those days but you do have a good evening ahead of you. I'll eat a peanut butter cup for you!

I love that fair isle pullover and the other two projects you picked from IK. But with all the stuff I wanted to make...it's about a mile long..I wonder when will I get to them. Anyways, enjoy your TV shows and sock knitting...I'll catch CSI for sure.

Everybody has a cranky day once in a while--it's perfectly okay! I hope it's gotten better by now.
Chocolate and a new IK does sound helpful!
Posted by: --Deb at November 1, 2006 7:49 PM
Can't wait to get my IK. I find that I tend to like really different things in the web preview than in the actual issue.
And chocolate is known to improve mood!

I just got the Amy Butler book on Monday...specifically for the pajama pants! i won't get to anything until the end of the semester so let me know how they sew up.

Sorry about the craptastic mood! Hopefully today is a better day.

Hey, we're all entitled to be a little grumpy some days. I'm sure the knitting, and the chocolate will make you feel better :)
