A Baby Hat
I finally finished the baby hat before work this morning. I stayed up late last night and got everything but the little I-cord done. But after it was finished I had to bring it to work and show it to the ladies here who know a thing or two about babies because I'm pretty sure this sucker isn't fitting anything! It is tiny.

That box it's sitting on is 4 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches long. Tiny. The moms and grandmas and aunts around here all assure me that it will fit a baby because, in fact, they really are that small. I'm reserving judgment until I see it for myself.
Project Details:
Pattern: Purly's Baby Hat Pattern
Yarn: Dale Baby Ull in Ivory (0020)
Needles: US #2 Addi Natura dpns
Now I'm starting the raglan sweater. It might be pushing it to get it done in time, but you only cast on 50 stitches or so and then work for less than 5 inches before you start the raglan shaping. On size 7 needles. I should be able to do it. Right?
Thank you for all the great cookie recipes. Travis is going to be in heaven - and maybe people will quit telling him how skinny he is after he tastes them all. If you haven't submitted a recipe, you still have time - until the 25th. Oh, and if you have a great cookie recipe that isn't chocolate chip - send it along - it will count for the drawing. I may just have to enter cookies in all the categories. If I do, there will be prizes for all the "winning" recipes.

It will fit. Newborn babies are soooo small. Unless they are mine! HA!HA! I had 9 pound babies and nothing newborn would fit them. 3 month clothes from the beginning.

I'm sure the ladies are correct when they say it will fit. In any event, it turned out just lovely!

The hat is adorable! And hopefully the baby won't have some big honking head and it will be fine.

Baby clothes go very quickly. I'll bet the hat fits!

Oh it's absolutely adorable. I'm no help though because I have no idea if things will fit a baby or not, not having had any.
Is the hat stretchy at all?

Very cute! If it helps you believe any better, I recently came across the hospital-provided knit cap my son wore at birth and it was barely larger than what I would knit from toe to ball of foot for a toe-up sock. It even shocked me how small it was, but it did fit well at the time!

Cute hat! I think it would fit the grandbaby twins!

I've been told that 'preemie' hats are to be made so they fit a head the size of a lime ! So yours will be OK, I'm sure.

If it's about 15-16" around, it will fit a 3-6 month baby, maybe even bigger. It should stretch a bit, too. Very cute pattern! As for the sweater, that size shouldn't take long at all!

Just sent you my cookie recipe. Mmm... now I'm craving cookies. :)
Cute hat! I assure you as well... it will fit a baby. They are so teensy at birth! But if for some reason it does end up being too small... consider donating it to a local hospital ... most accept donations for preemies.

it will fit. newborns have heads that are generally 31-34cm in circumference. you can trust me, i am a labor and delivery nurse and measure the head of every single baby at delivery! so, you can exhale and start baking! i can't wait to hear the results of the cookie contest!

The hat is adorable--and it really will fit!
And, well, the cookies . . . no pain, no gain, right? Tell Travis you have to make some sacrifices to find the perfect cookie . . .

trust in the smallness of babies, grasshopper.
They are smaller than you think.
Can't help you on the cookie recipes though. I'm a break and bake kind of girl. Although, I am known for a mean Christmas goodie basket.

That should fit a baby! They really are small. :)

I think you need to forward all cookie recipes to me because I read the previous comments and I read about some yummy things. I collect recipes. Oh don't tell my husband that I would even suggest I could use more recipes. The hat is adorable. It will fit a newborn! And you have it from a labor and delivery nurse (I think that would be an awesome career) that it will fit.

I'm sure it will fit a little noggin! And it's so cute!!!

The hat is adorable! Unless the baby is a 13-pounder - heard about that one today here - (http://www.theday.com/re.aspx?re=e927e9cd-309c-4f02-8286-a7c945107bf7), it will be just perfect. The color really shows off the intricate stitch textures. Will be waiting for the sweater.
Cookie recipes? Un-uh! We don't go there; it's in the interest of reducing the clothing budget so I can spend money on yarn.
