Decisions on the Baby Stuff

Thank you all so much for all of your help. I don't know what I'd do without you guys. And you know that me being me, I'm going to change my mind. Originally I was going to knit the little sweater I showed you yesterday with the cabled hat. Then I considered the Cable & Rib Sweater with Hood (ok, in all honesty, I gave it a whole lot of thought) and the Cabled Coat With Hood (another one I gave serious consideration to). I also looked at a lot of yarns and called in the expert for advice. At some point last night reality set in and I realized I really didn't have time to knit an elaborate cable sweater by September 16th. So, I went back to the drawing board and came up with this raglan sweater in Louet Gems Topaz (I hope it's soft enough - even though those in the know assure me it is). Then I'm going to go get some Baby Ull for the Cable hat. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I promise.

In other news, I got a part-time job. At the local yarn store. Cool, huh. I wasn't looking for a job, but it just came to me. The owners are dissolving their partnership and the lady who is keeping the store needs someone to work every once in awhile when she has something going on with her kids. So, she called me to see if I was interested. With the holidays coming up, who couldn't use a little extra money and if it involves any sort of discount on yarn or supplies, so much the better. I'm working from 1 to 6 on Saturday. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm still working on the sleeves of the Sundara sweater. I won't have very much time to knit tonight because of karate, but I did knit quite a bit last night (while I watched Project Runway). Plus my weekend plans involve knitting, knitting, and knitting. Exciting isn't it (I know you all agree with me that it is indeed exciting). The only other news is that I've subscribed to a new magazine - this is the second issue - and I really like it, so I thought I'd share. The magazine is called Blueprint. It's published by Martha Stewart and it's a nice combination of DIY, fashion, home, and health. Just a little bit of everything in one place. I really like it and while it isn't a knitting magazine, I thought some of you might want to check it out.

Oooh, congrats on the new part-time job! How exciting! I hope you like it.
I've been hearing the buzz in blogland about Blueprint...I will have to take a look at it.

Oh dear...yarn shop job you say? Extra money? Discount? You are in SO much trouble. LOL

One of these days, I'm going to have a weekend that's all about knitting, knitting, and knitting. Really. I am.

Oooo, that will be an adorable sweater!

I picked up issue one of Blueprint off the newstand, then I got together with A on Tuesday and she had the second one with her and I wasn't as excited about that issue. I'm thinking I'll wait and see what I think of the Winter issue before subbing...

I've picked up the last couple of issues of Blueprint. I can't quite decide what I think of it.

Way to go on the new job! I tried to talk my LYS owner into staying open on Sundays with the inducement that I could work for her... but it dodn't work out. =(

Sweet - a job at a yarn shop! I can't wait to hear how it goes.

I got a copy of the first issue of Blueprint, and I actually didn't care for it that much. Maybe the second issue is better?

Lucky you! the yarn shop job sounds like fun! I just got the second issue of Blueprint in the mail - haven't looked through it yet. I will this weekend ;)

Aren't you a lawyer? Lawyers don't need second jobs. You're such a goof ball.

sounds like the baby project is great -
and you say you're working at a yarn shop to earn a little bit of money??? oh my... I once worked for a book store and, well.... you should see my shelves :-)

Congrats on the job. I have to agree with Teyani, though. When I worked at the garden center, I tended to leave a lot of my paycheck at the register and take home plants instead. While it wasn't as lucrative as it might have been, it sure was fun!

Good choice on sticking with something simple for the baby. I would make sure that the neckline either has some kind of opening (like a slit at the back) or is super-super stretchy. Little ones have huge noggins. It's shocking, really. The pattern looks cute and easy.

I used to dislike M.S., but after the whole prison thing, I just changed my tune. It isn't really logical, but it's how I reacted, anyway. I will take a look at Blueprint next time I'm out and about. I always like to thumb through Living and her various books.
