Sockapaloooza!
Guess what was in my mailbox waiting for me when I got home last night.
My sockapaloooza socks!!

I finally have some Jaywalkers! Isn't that awesome? And best of all, they fit!

Jaime made these for me out of some gorgeous, pale pink Debbie Bliss Merino DK and they are soooo soft. Like butta, I tell ya. I put them on as soon as I unwrapped them and they are snuggly and soft and I can tell that these will be a favorite. Thanks Jaime! They're perfect. Plus, Jaime sent a lovely Lantern Moon needle case and the cutest card ever. Travis was a little concerned about the purpose of the needle case (snicker), but it just goes to show you how clueless men are about knitting necessities.
Next up, an update on Sew? I Knit. Angela, Mari, and I have decided on tops for the next project - any kind of garmet worn on the top half of your body (or anyone else's body, for that matter) qualifies for this project. Sign-ups begin tomorrow the 24th and run until next Wednesday the 31st. We're trying to get the sew-along on a 2 month rotation. So, the actual sew-along will start June 1st and run through July 15th and then sign-ups for the next project will begin July 16th with the next project starting August 1st. Make sense? So, if you're interested, get on over and sign up!

I've never seen non-variegated jaywalkers, and they look awesome! They have great texture.

I love the color of your socks! I haven't seen Jaywalkers in a solid color, but I like them. And your hourglass is coming along so nicely.

the solid color jaywalker is soo cute. i love it. i think it looks so much better in just a solid color.

Wow those are really, really nice socks. I love the solid colored jaywalker idea - nice texture, but no wacky stripes. Lucky you!

I love that sheepy card! I'm a sucker for anything with a sheep on it. As for non-knitting men, I agree that they're generally clueless about such things. Gotta love 'em. :)

Very nice socks!! The card is adorable too.

Now you don't have to knit a pair for yourself! Awesome!

Oh my goodness, you've posted so much since the last time I checked in! Everything looks so beautiful! Love the clapotis and your hourglass is a gorgeous color. I can see that looking really good on your. Plus you have a really awesome sock pal!

That's really lucky that those socks fit.... I have somewhat evil feelings towards them right now. Actually, though - I realized I might try making them with some stretchy yarn - do you think they would work with Cascade Fixation?

oh, i really love those socks! this is the first pair of jaywalkers i've seen in a solid color and i think that it enhances the stitch pattern just the right amount. and merino DK! so soooofffttt.

Those socks are so nice in a solid color - who knew!!
Posted by: jillian at May 23, 2006 3:23 PM
I'm SO happy you like them and they fit!! I really worried over the fit. Also, I tried it at first with sockweight yarn in a solid color and also received positive comments about how different they looked as opposed to being variegated. A big difference!
Happy Sock Wearing! :-)

Gorgeous! I haven't seen many Jaywalkers in a solid color, but they look great. I love the color.

OH MY GOD! Those socks are awesome!!! I believe everyone should have one pair of Jaywalkers!!!

Glad they arrived at last. Sew, I Knit looks fun - I think I'll learn how to use my sewing machine and then hop into the rotation in July/August.

What a great blog - just found it, have been reading in the archives - love, love, love it!! Especially love (love, love?) your Clapotis in Fleece Artist Kid Aran (not to mention the very photogenic Fritz...) - I'm guessing your Clapotis took 2 skeins of the Aran - is there any way you could confirm how much you used? I'll definitely be adding your blog to my short list of favs! Thanks, Sue.

Those look soo nice and comfy! I don't think I had seen a solid color jaywalker, but boy they look great in a solid color too! I think I may just have to make myself a pair one of these days...

Just found your blog too ... and I love how your Hourglass sweater is knitting up. I'd be interested in hearing how much yarn you used for your Clapotis, as well. I've got a 400m skein of the Fleece Artist Kid Aran at home that I'd love to use for one, but I'm not sure how much I'd have to adjust the pattern.
