Clapotis

I finally finished my Clapotis and managed to take some pictures. Travis was late last night and Riley couldn't figure out how to work the camera, so I had to use the self-timer. Will someone please remind me - I really need a tripod. Especially when the wind's blowing 40 mph.

That's Fritz. He was not amused to have to participate in the photo shoot, but really, my goal in life is to torture my animals - so, there you go. Clapotis has absolutely nothing to do with the horses, and I'd never really wear it if I was doing anything with them - Fritz is simply for your amusement. He thinks he's pretty handsome, and who am I to tell him any different?

And Riley wanted to join in the fun too.

Project Details:

Pattern: Clapotis

Yarn: Fleece Artist Kid Aran in golds and greens. It was a gift from my lovely Secret Pal, Leanne

Needles: US #8 Addi Naturas Circulars - 24"

Thoughts: I really like the simplicity of this wrap. I think it will be great as a wrap for chilly Wyoming summer evenings and as a scarf in the winter. The yarn is very soft and I love the colors. What pooling there is definitely doesn't bother me.

Looks great! I'm so jealous of the beautiful scenery at your house. Despite the wind, it looks like a gorgeous day!

Posted by: Carolyn at May 17, 2006 10:21 AM

Very pretty. I love the green!

Fritz is cute too - a QH?

Posted by: Stacey at May 17, 2006 10:28 AM

Is it wrong that I am admiring your horse more than your knitting? Not that Clapotis isn't lovely (it is!), but Fritz is certainly a handsome horse! :)

Posted by: Cyndi at May 17, 2006 10:28 AM

Actually, that first one is a great shot! Very arty. Oh, the shawl is wonderful, too! I resisted doing Clapotis, but I may have to rethink.

Posted by: Marcia at May 17, 2006 10:28 AM

fritz is quite handsome! I bet he was jealous that he had to share the image with your lovely clap.

Posted by: yahaira at May 17, 2006 10:31 AM

Yay for finishing the Clapotis! It looks lovely on you. Your photos came out well, and Fritz is a nice-looking horse. =)

Posted by: caitlyn at May 17, 2006 10:36 AM

Beautiful! (Both your Clapotis and Fritz!)

Posted by: Imbrium at May 17, 2006 10:37 AM

Oh, it's gorgeous. And Friz is very handsome!

Posted by: Purly Whites at May 17, 2006 10:38 AM

I don't think I've seen a Clapotis done up in Fleece Artist yet. It's beautiful. I love the greens.

Fritz really is very handsome.

Posted by: allison at May 17, 2006 10:38 AM

I love horses, I wish I knew how to ride. He certainly is handsome!

Can I ask how many skeins your Clapotis took? I'm thinking about making it, but I'm still not sure if I have enough yarn. I'm leaning towards yes, if I make it slightly smaller. Did you make a smaller one, or is it as written in the pattern?

Posted by: Heather at May 17, 2006 10:38 AM

gorgeous shots. clapotis looks lovely! but i love this big sky and horse scenery. sooo wonderful!

Posted by: blossom at May 17, 2006 10:40 AM

beautiful clapotis! beautiful horse! and beauitful pictures! it's the unwind trifecta :)

Posted by: gleek at May 17, 2006 10:54 AM

Clapotis is beautiful but Fritz does steal the show;-)

Posted by: margene at May 17, 2006 10:54 AM

I have the same question as Heather. I'm thinking of doing clap but bigger than the pattern. I wonder approx. how many yards/skeins you used and if you modified the size at all.

Not that I know anything about this, but I just wonder...do you show your horses?

Posted by: Katherine at May 17, 2006 11:09 AM

It's beautiful! Clapotis and Fritz.

Posted by: Steph at May 17, 2006 11:19 AM

I love Fritz! I guess I don't have room in my condo in the city for a horse, though.

The Clapotis is lovely too. :-)

Posted by: Wendy at May 17, 2006 11:21 AM

Gorgeous! I love the setting of your pics - Fritz is truly handsome. Can't go wrong with Clapotis!

Posted by: jillian at May 17, 2006 11:28 AM

Clapotis matches your photo shoot scenery - very pretty. Fritz is a nice lookin' horse, and your hair is getting long! Are you growing it out?

Posted by: PumpkinMama at May 17, 2006 11:31 AM

It's beautiful and so are the pictures!

Posted by: Carole at May 17, 2006 11:42 AM

Oooo, it is absolutely gorgeous! And Fritz is handsome too!

Posted by: Kristi aka Fiber Fool at May 17, 2006 11:55 AM

I think the horse makes an excellent accessory to your Clappy! Congrats on finally finishing - that pattern can get a little tedious!

Posted by: Zarah at May 17, 2006 11:57 AM

Horsies! Blue sky!

The pretty Clapotis is quite nice too.

Did I mention the blue sky???

Posted by: claudia at May 17, 2006 12:20 PM

Gosh - I don't know who or which is cuter! The clap? The Stephanie? OR the horse?
I say all of the above.

Glad to see that all your snow is gone......:)

Posted by: christine at May 17, 2006 12:20 PM

I love it! And I can't even tell the wind was so strong. Are you sure it was snowing last week?

Posted by: Angela at May 17, 2006 12:20 PM

Handsome horse, dog, AND clapotis! Enjoy!

Posted by: grumperina at May 17, 2006 12:21 PM

Wonderful! The yarn was perfect for that pattern.

Posted by: Leanne at May 17, 2006 1:50 PM

Ah, you know how to appeal to a group of (mostly) women: it's not guys in tight jeans, it's HORSES. It just sets off a little spark in my brain, like "Wait, aren't I supposed to have one of those by now? Wasn't that the plan?"

Fritz is gorgeous, and so's your Clap.

Posted by: Molly at May 17, 2006 1:53 PM

omg the beautiful pictures! i love them! next time i have an fo, do you think fritz would be willing to fly in for a photo shoot?

clapotis is fantastic, too!

Posted by: kris at May 17, 2006 2:48 PM

Wow, the colors are great. Your clapotis is beautiful.

Posted by: Kris at May 17, 2006 3:21 PM

Excellent photo shoot!

Posted by: Emily at May 17, 2006 3:34 PM

Oh! Your pictures are beautiful. I have found yet another favorite blog. Yours! I am a first time poster, but want to tell you I loved the skirt you made awhile ago, also.
Your clapotis is gorgeous and Fritz is too!
From one cowgirl to another. Yee Haw!! ( I'm from Austin, Texas)

Posted by: lindar at May 17, 2006 3:59 PM

wonderful photos. You've got the most gorgeous wide open skies and a horse too!

Posted by: erin at May 17, 2006 4:06 PM

Wonderful space...I can't believe you have a horse (city girl here)! Great job on clapotis!

Posted by: quenna at May 17, 2006 4:23 PM

BEAUTIFUL photos! Your clappy looks wonderful, and Fritz is a great name for a horse. Do you ride more, or Travis? Or do you each have a horse?

Posted by: Melly at May 17, 2006 5:27 PM

Your photos took my breath away! Between clapotis, Fritz, and the scenery... Wow!

Posted by: Kelly at May 17, 2006 5:49 PM

Fritz is right! He is very handsome. The shawl is nice too! Beautiful photos!

Posted by: Stephanie at May 17, 2006 7:06 PM

Fritz is beautiful, as is your clapotis, I just never get tired of seeing all the variations in colour and materials that people have created.

Posted by: Liz at May 17, 2006 10:37 PM

Beautiful pictures, beautiful Clapotis. It makes me think I need to make another one.

Posted by: jessie at May 18, 2006 3:49 AM

I, too, am interested in how much yarn you used. Although I've resisted until now, I think I'd like to make clapotis. I have stuff in the stash -- but want to make sure I have enough! Thanks!

Beautiful photos! As a Cheyenne native (now living in Michigan -- lovely in its own way), it's wonderful to see the BIG SKY again! (Too many trees in Michigan!)

Posted by: Kym at May 18, 2006 7:51 AM

Gorgeous photos! Clapotis looks right at home outside with Fritz and Riley.

Posted by: Diana at May 18, 2006 7:58 AM

As a fellow knitter with 2 horses I say there's no need for Clapotis to have anything to do with horses!

Fritz must be the aloof and handsome type. My Pepsi is the "I'm handsome and shouldn't I be the center of attention?" type.

Posted by: Toby at May 18, 2006 8:05 AM

Fritz is very handsome indeed. And your Clap looks lovely.

Posted by: Cindy at May 18, 2006 9:10 AM

Beautiful! I definitely need a horse for my next fo shoot. ;-)

Posted by: Cara at May 18, 2006 11:48 AM

See, now you shouldn't have take a pic of Clapotis with Fritz. How could we possible even notice Clappy with that gorgeous horse next to it. He's so beautiful. Somehow, I managed to tear myself away from gazing at him to look at CLappy and it's beootiful!

Posted by: Jenn at May 18, 2006 5:30 PM

Beautiful clapotis!

Posted by: Areli at May 18, 2006 10:22 PM

Just stumbled across your blog somehow - what fabulous photos of you and your horse. It looks like something out of a movie.
Grand knitting as well. thanks for a delightful read.

i think i am in love with fritz!

Posted by: jacqueline at May 19, 2006 5:30 AM

Everything about these pictures is beautiful - YOU, your Clap, cute Fritz, and the lovely landscape. Amazing, Steph! I love the greens (and you finished it for Project Spectrum *green*!)

Best wishes,
Lolly

Oh my... so much gorgeousness in catching up on 3 posts!! Your weekender bag is unbelievable. Really. Great, great job!!! And Clapotis is equally wonderful - I love how she turned out. I think however, that I am most jealous of Fritz and that pasture and the blue, blue sky. Maybe you should ride off into the wild blue yonder, Weekender bag slung over the saddle horn, and Clapotis trailing in the wind behind you. hee.

Posted by: Kathy at May 19, 2006 9:02 AM

congrats on finishing it! I love the pics of the landscape, the horse and you. Your Clapotis looks beautiful.
