Third Time's A Charm

Right? I mean, I know that's the saying, but do you think it's true? I sure hope so because we're getting down to the wire on this whole Sockapaloooza thing. Ya know? It's April 5th and I have until May 1st to get these suckers finished. Some might say that I'm a procrastinator, but really, waiting until the last minute makes me nervous. So, you know the 2nd sock version didn't work - it was too tight, just like the first. So, I took a few days away and ordered different yarn. Clearly the Lorna's Laces just wasn't working for me. And the new yarn? Oh my god. I love it.

Look at those colors. Aren't they so very pretty? It's Sundara Yarn in a color she doesn't have available - it's actually called Emergency Sock Pal. So, being an emergency and this being the third attempt at a decent fitting sock, I had to cast on immediately. Obviously.

The pattern is the ever-popular Pomatomus - much stretchier and more forgiving than the lovely Child's First Sock, but similar all the same. As for the yarn, it's just great. Very soft and very sproingy (yep, that's a technical term), and it knits up very nicely. At this point, I am hopefully optimistic. But, we shall have to see what kinks time and more knitting throw into the mix.

And finally, the long over due car photo. I was hoping to get a picture when it was nice and clean, but when you live on 2 miles of dirt road, it just really isn't feasible. So, here's a look at my slightly dirty new car.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the third time is a charm for your socks! The yarn is very pretty, I may have to check out her solid colored sock yarns.

Sweet ride! ;-)

Gorgeous yarn!!

Love the yarn, love the car.....where's the spinning?!

Posted by: Marcia at April 5, 2006 12:32 PM

The car is sweet but the yarn.... oooo the yarn. I knew as soon as I saw it, before I scrolled down, that it was Sundara yarn. I'm working with black lagoon right now and I love it. Sproingy is indeed the right term.

purly to the rescue!! I believe if you use sundara yarn, then anything you knit will be perfect. The yarn has magical powers. really.

I think the third time will be the charm. The Pomatomus sock looks gorgeous so far! The car is very cool too. =)

Oooh...nice sock yarn. I have no doubts you'll meet the deadline. Oh, and nice car too ;-) Leave it to all of us to drool over the yarn first, then the vehicle.

A wonderful set of new wheels, Stephanie! And the new sock pal socks are going to be great. I love the colors. And, since it is sockapaloooza, the third time *has* to be the charm, right? It is round three afterall...

Yeah, another P-sock!
The car is sure purty! I just turned 50,000 on my mid-life crisis car...........:(

That new yarn is fabulous, I'm sure this one will turn out for you.

The car is very cute, er manly, um, fluffy? Hmmm, I think I need caffeine.

Yay! So glad you like it. I hope it knits up well as pomotomomomoaus, both in fit and in color. Third time is a charm, that is what I've always found.

Very cute car! Congratulations!

Lovely sock yarn, I think you've got it now. And the car is smashing - especially the color. (did I really just say smashing?)

That yarn is gorgeous. I'm sure that your sock pal will love it. How could anyone not love it? Good luck making the sock fit...and then not keeping it for yourself.

First off, the yarn, gorgeous! The new sock yarn will work for you, I can feel it. Even as you say the pattern, Pomatomus is stretchier, it can't help but work better, right?

Love the Murano too. A friend of mine has one and I think it's so cute. And very nice inside too. Enjoy your car.

I'm actually working on potamus with Sundara Sock too! I am so enjoying knitting this pattern. And the yarn... oh the yarn!

Can't wait to see your finished pair - we can compare notes!

I love your car! I saw one on the road the other day and it looks like a very comfortable car for travel. Normally, I'd be ogling the yarn, but I've been car-shopping lately too, and it kind of takes over part of the brain. I'm ending up with a Honda CR-V that I'm going to get tonight. Exciting! Exhausting!

I am able to pay enough attention that I can say the yarn is very pretty. And I'm in love with that pattern. I will do some sometime soon... it's fun to read about other people's experience with the pattern in the meantime. And see the pattern develop.

Love the sock yarn, love the pattern and love the cute zippy looking car! You just have it all going! And yes the third time is a charm!

So far, so good! What gorgeous yarn, too. Good luck :).

Posted by: grumperina at April 5, 2006 6:03 PM

All I am saying is "Let me be your sock Pal" my fingers are crossed!

Posted by: Carla at April 5, 2006 6:11 PM

Such a cute car! But of course, the star of the entry is the yarn. I love the yarn! I'm sure your sock pal will be thrilled with the socks.

Posted by: mari at April 5, 2006 6:18 PM

I think those socks are going to be a success! They look abolutely gorgeous so far. Please say that I am your sock pal.... :)

That yarn is fab - the car is great too! Wonderful for car trips - the back seat reclines!!

Red is so the color for new cars. Seriously. You can find it in a parking lot. Rescue can find you it if it falls off a cliff. (Second) easiest color to see. Safer. Practical. That's exactly why my car is red.
