Sockapaloooza Take 2

Thank you all so much for your insight and suggestions. After much debate, I've decided to use the Lorna's Laces in a different pattern.

The Chalet Sock was frogged (sniffle, sniffle) and the yarn was rewound (by hand on the way home from work last night) and has made a reappearance as the Child's First Socks from Knitting Vintage Socks (and here's another look).

And here's the most interesting thing of all in this little project - I'm now getting gauge on my size 0 addi turbo dpns, but the required gauge is the same gauge I was actually getting on the Chalet Socks using the 2 addi turbo circulars (16 sts and 23 rows to 2 inches - and let me just say that for me to get row gauge is unheard of). The only thing I can figure is that I knit looser on the dpns even though the needle material is exactly the same thing. Any other explanations out there?

Despite the frogging and starting over, I managed to knit the ribbing and the first pattern repeat last night. Isn't it pretty?

This pattern is considerably less complicated than the Chalet Socks, but still an enjoyable knit. And don't worry, the Chalet Socks are not gone forever. I will knit them for myself using a different yarn - soon.

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

I knit this pattern for my Olympic knitting and enjoyed it very much. Once you've done a couple of repeats, you'll have the pattern down pat. They look great so far!

They are gorgeous!! I'm glad this will work out for you!!!

Those are looking great! I think my gauge loosens up slightly on the circs vs. the DPNs. I think I get a death grip on those DPNs because I'm worried of the stitches sliding off in my purse or that, but with the circs I'm not worried. But I definitely get different gauges on different needles.

Okay, I got no clue what causes your crazy gauge issues, but don't fight it - you got gauge! I love that pattern, I definitely need to buy KVS. Can't wait to watch it come along. (You're making me wish I joined Sockapolooza)

That is the PERFECT pattern for that yarn! Isn't the pattern fun! One of my fav's..............

Ohhhhhh, is that a sock at the office shot?

They look great! It seems like a fun pattern to knit up. The pattern compliments the solid color of the sock yarn. Have fun knitting!

hmm.. i think this blue and this yarn is definitely better suited for this pattern. do try to put it on your own feet as you knit. it always helps!!!

You're making good progress. The pattern of Chalet just doesn't give much and that might be the diffence. Enjoy that pattern. It's fun to do!

I think I like this pattern better with the yarn... it looks like ocean waves! Very pretty. Seeing your sockapaloooza socks reminds me that I need to get busy on mine!

It is quite pretty. I have no idea why you'd get gauge with this and not with the other, strange. Anyway, it's pretty and I'm sure your pal will love them.

Oye, you're fast. That's another pretty pattern so it's a win-win situation all around.

Looks good, a wonderful "alternate" choice. Happy weekend.

They are lovely! I LOVE the color! Sometimes frogging is for the greater good! We all hate it, but sometimes I has to be done.

I know your pal will love them.

I like it...

I have much tighter gauge on circs because I pull it tighter in on the cable, you can only get it so tight on the dpns.

I really like the new pattern. I think I need this book.
