Mitten Number 2
I've been kind of quiet about the second Nordic Mitten, but it's really going well. The 2-handed knitting gets easier as time goes on, and my tension is considerably better on this one. I'm about half way through and will make good progress next week because I get to just ride along in the car on the commute.

I knit another 4 rows on Ombre last night and I swear I will eventually finish that blanket. I'm worried because I wanted to have it done by the middle of February and that isn't looking likely. Why does it have to take so freakin' long to finish this project? Yes, I'm whining, but come on already. Jeeze.
In exciting news, this morning Phil saw his shadow. When Travis heard that bit of news he scoffed (he really did) and said he'd be ecstatic if we only had six more weeks of winter. He's predicting something more in the range of 12 weeks, but he is a bit of a pessimist (although if you ask him, he'd say he's a realist - whatever). All I know is that I wish the wind would stop blowing.

Lookin' good. I'd say you're allowed to whine about Ombre. It is a blanket, if you can't whine about knitting something that big, then I don't know what you're allowed to whine about.

The mitten is looking great! You'll get through Ombre because you do keep plugging away. It'll be over soon!

The mitten looks great! You very nearly have me convinced to make a pair for myself. Probably, by the time you post pictures of the finished pair, I will be ordering a pattern. :)
When I was in middle school, I did an oral report on a Native American tribe (can't remember which one) that lived in the Northern Great Plains. Uncharacteristically, for me, I forgot all about the assignment, so I just made some things up as I went along. One thing I claimed was that they needed extra warm teepees and buffalo hides because of the wind, since there were no mountains to block it and the windchill factor was higher than in other places. So, was I on to something there? If so, please accept my sympathy. Still, the pictures of sky that you post on your blog are my very favorite, so wind or no, at least you have that big beautiful sky to look at.

Those pessimists are always claiming to be realists :-) The mittens are looking fabulous. Keep on going on Ombre! Its going to be a wonderful blanket when its done.

The mitten is looking fabulous!
We have had only gray skies for so long I can't remember the last time we saw blue sky.

i'm sure you have the mittens done soon, and then you'll start butterfly, right??

The mitten is looking great, I hope you do have 12 more weeks of winter, because those babies need some quality wearing time, they are so pretty.
Ombre will get done, who knows maybe one day you'll just have the urge and you'll go crazy on it and finish it quickly.

I have the same kind of pessimist/realist husband. We (he and I) now refer to him as a curmudgeon/misanthrope. :)

I can't even imagine what winter would be like in Wyoming.......loved it in June, however!!
The mitten looks wonderful! We will need to see the pair as a FO -I bet your tension isn't wonky on the first one after all....

You don'd sound like you're enjoying Ombre anymore ;) No worries, though. I still haven't touched Lightning! Second mitten looks great. But I guess that's the problem with starting out in fair isle and doing mittens, one will look better than the other. But of course, the untrained eye won't be able to tell the difference.

I KEEP TELLING YOU, YOU NEED TO MOVE TO LANDER -- BUT I'M NOT TELLING YOU ANYTHING HUH? THE MITTEN IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT LOOK WHO IS KNITTING IT. TALK TO YOU SOON

Those mittens....I am really proud of you! I was just thinking about old Phil this morning...he may have seen his shadow, but we have crocuses peeking up already. Dumb crocuses.

The mitten looks great! I'm attempting fair isle mittens for the Olympics.
It's basically spring here already, so if this weather keeps up for another six weeks, that's fine. Although I'm pretty sure it will snow most of March.

Those mittens are beautiful!
And if you feel like sending some winter weather my way, I'd be happy! It is 54 degrees here in MD. WAY too warm! I want some snow!

I'm loving those Nordic Mittens so, so much. I'm with Rebekah here...I hope we have 12 more weeks - just so you can wear 'em and show them off.

Mitten #2 is looking great! YAY!

I will trade you your wind for our rain and gloom. Although it's been frickin' windy the last few days, as well as rainy and gloomy, so maybe nevermind.
#2 is looking really good. And I'm so sorry about ombre. It's a bitch to finish these sorts of things. I've got an afhan on size 5 needles and I've only knit 7 out of 25 balls of yarn. I don't know if I will ever get to it, so you should be proud that you've come this far and that you will finish.

The mitten looks great. One row completed on Ombre is a row that wasn't done before so keep on going! We have not had a winter to speak of down here. So maybe with 6 more weeks left we will finally get ours!

Your MIL wants you to move to Lander for the Spring? Doesn't that happen in JUNE? Try coming east. You'll understand why Easter Eggs come in colors other than white!

Mitten # 2 is looking so pretty! One of these days, I will try to knit a mitten. Yes, I will.
I don't mind wind too much. It's more that I really don't like to be cold. On the upside, chilly weather brings a great excuse to knit woolens. And wear MITTENS! =)

I love the colours you've chosen for the mitts - very traditional. ~Sharon
