Bandwagon

In this world I believe we all want to think of ourselves as unique. And really, we are. No two people are alike and no two people like exactly the same things. However, it appears that there are some things a whole lotta knitters are drawn to. Jaywalker is definitely one and Clapotis is without a doubt another. I have yet to make either. Until now.

Yep, I started Clapotis. And I'm using some lovely Fleece Artist Leanne sent me as part of the Knitter's Review Secret Pal exchange. The yarn is lovely and I'm really enjoying the simplicity of the pattern. It's a nice contrast to the complicated charts and fingering weight yarn of the Chalet Socks. Plus, I think Clapotis will be the perfect weight for spring and early summer. I know it's been knit a thousand times, but some things are just worth the hype.

In other knitting news, Dani dyed some lovely sock yarn for me in University of Wyoming Cowboys colors (brown and prairie gold) and it came yesterday. Look at how lovely it is.

And here's a close-up. Isn't it fun? I just love it and can't wait to knit it into a pair of socks.

Your Clapotis colors are gorgeous. I'm thinking of knitting another one soon -- this time for myself. =) It is definitely an easier pattern that provides good relief from more taxing knitting. The Univ of Wyoming colors are nice!! Can't wait to see the socks -- will they be for you or Travis? Hope you have a great day.

I recently started knitting a Clapotis, too -- but I had to put it away to compete in the Olympics. I love the sock yarn, I didn't know Dani would custom-dye. MU yarn, here I come! (Back & gold, very stylish!)

Wow, that kid aran is knitting up nicely.

Your Clapotis is going to look awesome! Love those greens!

Love that sock yarn. Browns & yellows are my favorites. Did you attend the U of Wyoming? It's too bad about the Tongue River one for Travis' socks. It's always disappointing when a project doesn't actually work out as well as you'd hoped. But that's how we learn, I guess! I have taken a lesson from your experience and will look just a little closer at yarns for suitability. I'm still learning, though, and will surely make some mistakes, too.

I often will knit a pattern, but wait until the hype is over. I too like Clapotis but have been waiting for the hype to die down.

that sock yarn is great. The colors are so rich, so a sock for you or Travis.

You'll love Clapotis! It's fun to knit and so versatile. The sock yarn is very cool.

Can't wait to see the socks that come out of that great yarn....something from Vintage Socks, perhaps?!

I love the colors on your Clapotis! It's going to be really beautiful. I've got yarn for that as well, but have yet to start it. If I can get through Rogue and finish St. Brigid, maybe I'll throw that on the needles next for a bit of simple knitting...

I love your sock yarn. The brown looks so rich and chocolaty.

I may be one of the few people who haven't done Clapotis yet. It's just a simple matter of too many great patterns and too little time.

Clapotis is a great knit you'll enjoy it and get heaps of wear out of it. that sock yarn is delicious!

You know, I wasn't drawn to Clapotis until I saw one in person and then I realized why it's so fabulous. I think the yarn you're using will be perfect for it - the colors are gorgeous!

Ooooh! That brown yarn is yummy!

Love the sock yarn - is is stripy or just smaller stretches of each color? Your Clapotis will be very pretty in those colors.

Posted by: PumpkinMama at February 28, 2006 2:20 PM

Both yarns are very pretty. I have done neither of those projects so they can't be overdone to me! Do you think Travis' sock sole (?) could look like that from his feet getting sweaty? Just wondering.

Clapotis is a classic. Of course, I haven't knit it yet either.

Dani did a great job on the sock yarn - I love the way the gold changes color ever so subtly.

Oh, that is gorgeous yarn for the clapotis. I haven't knit that either, I wanted to, but just never got to it. I suppose I will someday.

Hey! The more clapotis the merrier :-)

The clapotis yarn is beautiful! I know what you mean about the simple pattern being a nice break...I'm tempted to make one, just for the zen knitting of it.

Posted by: eunny at March 1, 2006 5:02 PM

Lovely Clapotis yarn! That will be beautiful. I have not made this yet, but I sure have been tempted... I will probably make it in a few years! ;)

Great brown sock yarn!
