Random
Because I don't have a single knitting-related thing to talk about, I'm going to do the lastest random meme. Oh, wait. One question that is knitting related - I want to make a Ruffle Scarf from Scarf Style and would like to substitute for something wool, alpaca, cashmere (which would really be divine) - you know, warm and appropriate for Wyoming winters. The pattern calls for 4 skeins of Classic Elite Premiere. I did a little searching and didn't come up with much. Anyone have a suggestion?

I noticed you haven't left the continent (the country yes). I totally recommend going to Paris (amazing yarn), or England, Scotland. You will have a wonderful time!

How about Cashmerino? I think Caitlyn just made hers with that. I'd love to own a yarn store too! You could have the first LYS in your area! ;)

My world would be a sad place without honeydew and kiwi! Funny that you don't like them!
Fun little quiz/meme, and it is always nice to learn about my bloggy friends!
Have a good weekend, Steph.

Fun! I like learning more about the knitters whose blogs I read. I'll do this one, too.
Do you think the Ruffle scarf will actually keep you warm, even if its in warm yarn? I'm not sure there's enough scarf-to-neck contact. Just a thought.

Aaah, what a sweet meme. I would got with DB Cashmerino aran on US 8s. I've knit this wih DB cotton angora, and while I wouldn't recommend that yarn as the angora gets everywhere, I really liked the circumference of the scarf with an aran weight yarn. I've also tried in a DK weight (Cathay) but didn't like it as much. Not enough circumference. And the aran will keep you warmer.

Would you believe that Nora Roberts lives near me?? And I have been been to her bookstore and actually met her! One of my college roommates ended up marrying one of her nephews.
And 3 of the things that you are afraid of don't bother me. I actually like snakes but not inmy living space. Going blind is not something that will bother me since I have lived with the fact that I might go blind all of my life. (This would only happen if I lost my vision in my good eye since I am already blind in one.) And fire, well, let's just say, I like to play with fire. And that is helpful as a fire fighter.
And I think you could easily change the yarn for the Ruffles scarf. I was thinking of using some Manos Stria that I have in my stash or maybe Lush. So go for it.

It's always wonderful to learn more about you, Stephanie! I see that Purly suggested DB Cashmerino with size 8 needles, and that is exactly what I used for Ruffles. It's a good width. I actually considered using Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed on size 9 needles. I think the size would have been fine as well, but I didn't use it b/c I'm not fond of the Silkroad Tweed yarn.
