Not In The Mood
I had time last night to finish seaming Frieda and I just couldn't convince myself to do it. I pinned the sides and got the yarn threaded and just decided I didn't want to. Do you think I could be coming down with something? That just isn't normal behavior for me. I wonder if it's because it's starting to warm up again so I won't be able to wear her for a few days. To be so close and not finish is just disturbing. Oh well, maybe tonight. Yes, definately tonight. Stay tuned.
Yesterday this very nice guy in my office brought me this:
Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That is an entire basket of home grown llama yarn (the dark brown is alpaca). One of my co-worker's clients raises llamas and he and his wife sell the yarn. It's quite soft and I think I "need" a couple of balls. I'm thinking mittens for my mother-in-law for Christmas. What do you think? I'm not sure on the weight - I'm guessing it's close to dk. Any great mitten patterns out there?
In other knitting news, not much progress has been made on the Gryffindor Socks, but I'm working on the front of Ronnie on the commute this week. I'm determined to get one Christmas project done before I start something else for myself.

Sounds like you just weren't in a finishing mood with Frieda... I know you are super dedicated though, I am sure you'll get her seamed soon enough!

Sometimes it's just not in us to work on a project. I can understand the disappointment in ont being able to wear it right away to. I should finish the IK sweater, just in time for the weather to climb back to 80 for a high. :-(
Love the Alpaca yarn, definitely you need some, mittens would be great. Don't know a good mitten pattern yet though as I haven't knit any mittens successfully myself.

mmmm, I'm drooling over the yarn. There are lots of great mitten patterns, I've just gotten hooked on the Latvian Mitten Crack. Do you have a copy of Folk Mittens? There are some cute patterns in there, or EZ's Norwegian pattern is cute.

Do you get to keep the whole basket or was it just a teaser of what you could buy? In any event it looks great! Sorry about the lack of enthusiasm on finishing Frieda but that usually isn't as fun as the actual knitting. I like knitting but not putting together. It will be beautiful whenever you get it finished! And regarding the socks, sounds like it's time for another fire drill!

For something like seaming, I think it’s better to wait until you are in the mood to tackle it. It’s not always fun, and sometimes it’s downright rough. If you don’t feel like doing it, then the process will be that much longer and more painful. I’m sure you will finish Freida soon.
That is some beautiful yarn there!

Yah, don't kill yourself over not seaming it immediately. You just gotta be in the mood. You might be suffering from a little Frieda overload right now, especially give the fact that the sleeve gave you a little more work that you anticipated. You probably need a little break.
And the yarn, talk about drool fest over here.. Can't help you on the mitten patterns. I've just made boring ones. But I do want to make a pair with a cable running up the front.

Are you kidding me? I wish MY co-workers brought me yarn! That is sweet.

Your co-worker is so sweet. There's a lot of project you can make with those yarn. Enjoy!

Okay, wait... did he give you the yarn like as in it's all yours... or did he bring it like you should buy some?? Either way - you are right, you do need some of that stuff. It is beautiful - and it would make the coziest mittens!!!

I usually have to put away the pieces of a project for a little while before coming back to them and seaming them up. It gives me time to decompress from the knitting effort before concentrating on the seaming.
How interesting that someone in your office raises llamas and then produces yarn. Did you get to keep the entire basket?
