A Sock Is Born
The last couple of days have been beyond crazy. I think it started yesterday with the fire drill in my office building that didn't turn out to be a fire drill. There was some sort of electrical short that fried the computer server. When we finally got back into the building we couldn't access any of our documents on the shared drive. The computers weren't back up until this morning, which made the crunch to get that memo done that was due before lunch more like an all out panic. Ah well, those little crisis are what make life interesting (I delivered it with 30 minutes to spare). The good news is that while I was sitting outside waiting for the firemen to clear the building I started the Gryffindor Sock.
This is the progress I made sitting outside and at lunch. The magic loop took a little getting used to, but it seems easy and I'm not getting any weird ladders, which is a good thing, right?
I worked on the turtleneck of Frieda while I watched Alias last night and I have to tell ya, it makes my hands hurt. I don't really know why, but maybe it has something to do with the 12" circular. Any thoughts on that?
I'm still hopeful that I will get Frieda finished this weekend, but that might be overly ambitious since my in-laws are coming this weekend. One thing is for sure - I'll get more done on the sock because I'm going to the Cowboy's football game with my mom and mom-in-law. Prime knitting time if you ask me.
Have a great weekend and remember to take time to sit and knit a bit.

Ooooh, Alias. I need to catch up. I stopped watching at the beginning of last season when they "killed off" the mom, but I hear she's back. Anyways, I think it might be the 12" circs. Ever since I started using the Magic Loop technique, I've found that any circs shorter than 24" hurt my hands, specifically my smaller fingers. For me, it's because the needle lengths are shorter and the ends (or the joins, however you want to refer to them) feel like they're digging in on the joints of my smaller fingers. It could be the way I hold them. I'm not sure if that's the same way your needles are hurting your hands, but I hope that helps.
Have a great time at the football game!

OH, I also think, because the needle lengths are shorter, I grasp them a little more firmly because I don't feel like I have a good hold on them.

Well, even if it was a crazy day and the servers got fried, your sock looks great. Is that any consolation? Perfect for Socktoberfest! I would love to hear more about Magic Loop too... and I think some other Socktoberists would too!
Also, I think the 12" circs might be the culprit. They caused me some pain too. I like them, but in small doses.
Have a good weekend!

sorry the cowboys lost :(
I am curious if you have been to Casper, Wyoming. I have been there on a couple of work-related trips and fell in love with the town.

Very resourceful to knit during a fire drill. Also, I'm an Alias fan as well. I've watched it since day one and don't think I've missed an episode. Now, thanks to DVR I can watch it at my leisure.
