Ruffle Shrug

The Ruffle Shrug is finished, or mostly finished.

I'm not crazy about the back, but it needs some elastic ala Grumperina, which I hope will help a little bit with the tendency to be uneven and to bag when I stand up straight. After I put that in it needs a good blocking. I ended up using a three needle bind off, which left a seam, but at least the ribbing matches up.

Pattern Specs:
Pattern: Shrug from Purly Whites

Ruffle: Eyelette Point Ruffle from Knitting on the Edge

Yarn: Knit Picks Shine in Cream - 6 balls

Needles: Size 5 Lantern Moons

Thoughts: Overall I'm happy with this project. I need to fix the back and should have done the three needle bind off at one ruffle to hide it a bit. If I can get some elastic to fix the back and give it a good blocking (I didn't do that because I was anxious to show you), I'll be much happier with it. The sleeves are snug when I first put it on, but the cotton stretches, so I think the fit will be good. I deliberately made the sleeves long because I like long sleeves.

Looks great! I agree that threading some elastic through the back will help even it out a little. The seam looks fine too. It is too bad you couldn't get grafting to work with the ribbing... how strange that it wouldn't work out right.

BTW - love the pics in the law library. :)

I love the ruffle on the cuffs, it's very pretty. I'm not sure myself about the 3-needle bind off in the back, I'm sure with blocking and elastic it will come together nicely though.

I love it Steph! I really love the long sleeves. It's going to look great once you block it and put the elastic in. It's definitely a good look on you!

Yay for a finished Ruffle Shrug! Very nice how the 3-needle bind off lined up the ribbing. Blocking and elastic should do the trick!

grafting ribbing can be tricky!! but i think what you did looks good. elastic may be a good idea!

The shrug looks so good on you! Your shoulders look fabulous. And I love the ruffle you choose. I do hope the blocking and the elastic helps with the back!

You look really pissed off in that 1st photo, I guess it was the grafting? You done good, and the ruffles are divine - I know this didn't go as you'd hoped, but I think the elastic trick will make you happier about the back.

I love it! The sleeve ruffles are gorgeous. The elastic and a good blocking will work wonders.

That came out quite nice! The cuffs are my favorite part, very cute :). Let me know if you need some of that elastic, the stuff I bought came in a package of 3 yards, so I have a ton left over.

Looks great! And the sleeves are the perfect length! (I, too, like a longer sleeve.)

It looks great! You look so serious :( The elastic will hopefully make all the difference like it did for Grumperina's.

Your hair is awesome. I love the dark. And that's a perfect style for growing it. It'll look great with your natural colored Betty :)

A woman wearing a shrug with ruffles in a law office, woohoo! Way to go, Steph! It looks wonderful as usual. You seem very serious about it though.

I'm digging the office-y outfit with the frilly shrug.

;-)

Keep us updated on the back fix. I'd love to hear how that will work out.

The Ruffle Shrug looks great!! I love the long sleeves - I am definitely a long sleeve girl as well. And you're right - the little bit of elastic in the back will make all the difference.

Congratulations!! It's beautiful!

The shrug looks really good on you! I love the ruffles and the long sleeves. The 3-needle bind off doesn't look that bad at all. You can't really tell when it's on. It looks more dramatic off.
