Is It The 21st Century?
I'm just checking because it seems that electricity should be a bit more reliable at this stage of the game. We had a thunder storm last night - started about 6:00. As a result 1/2 of the town lost power. I think lighting struck a transformer, but come on, really. This is the 3rd time in 2 months that my power's been out for more than 2 hours at a time. Last night the power went out at about 7:00 and didn't come back on until almost 10:30. I left for karate at about 7:10 and it was pouring. Luckily the gym still had power so we had class. When I got home there was still no electricity. No electricity means no shower. Ewwww. It wasn't good, trust me. No electicity also means no knitting after dark. So, I've made minimal progress on the Lotus Blossom Shawl , but here's what she looks like after 72 rows.
The wind blew so hard last night that some of my delphiniums blew over. They were staked and everything, but one has some spikes that are taller than the stakes. They were bent this morning. I staked them up the best I could and I'm hoping for the best, but they may need to be cut and put in the house. It's very sad because they are so beautiful in my yard.
Have a great day - it's Friday!!

Well don't think you are the only one that lost electricity last night due to storms. Half of Stephenville TX last power last night also. Not sure for how long since it happened after I went to bed. All I know is I woke up to a flashing 12:00 on my alarm clock. Luckily for me it was only 4am so I was able to reset the clock and set the alarm on my cell as back-up to make sure I got up for work.
Have a good weekend.

The shawl is looking fabulous! I may have to put that pattern on my list next...
Sorry to hear about the electricity issues... I know how you feel though - for the last few years, CA has had rolling brownouts almost every summer because there isn't enough electricity for everyone when it is 100+ degrees outside. I completely take it for granted, until it's gone for a few hours.
Hopefully your delphiniums will bounce back too!
Happy Friday! :)

I'm so sorry about the delphiniums. And the power. But the shawl is spectacular!

The shawl is looking great!
We had storms last night too, but they only made the power blink.

Storms? We can only wish for them here in Sacramento. Sorry to hear about the flowers, though. Lotus Blossom is looking good. Hey I really like your new site. Was it easy to set up? I'm still thinking about changing my blog name and site but all the good names are gone.

That's crazy about the power outages! I can totally understand your frustration about not being able to shower OR knit.
The shawl is looking wonderful - I love the straight lines. It seems like it would be fun to knit.

lovely shawl, looks like it's a fun knit, given that if you have enough light! i'm sure you'll finish this one soon.

I am so sick of all the thunderstorms!
Your shawl is looking purty! So what your verdict on the Bryspuns? I got mine also & I thisnk they are fabulous with all the laceweight yarns & mohair yarns.

The shawl looks great! How are the needles working out? Elann.com is carrying them now!

Your shawl is looking so fabulous. I love the color you chose for it too. That will go with pretty much anything!
Your feelings about electricity are kind of like my feelings about computers...they're so advanced but then the smallest thing will set them off. Like this morning when I spent 2 hours on the phone with Dell for a minor problem. 21st century my arse!
